Sven Delaye

I am a French street photographer whose work explores the strange, accidental and surreal moments hidden within everyday life.

After leaving France and spending years travelling across several continents, I began photographing the streets as a way of observing the places and people I encountered along the way. Mexico eventually became a particularly important part of this journey, both personally and photographically.

I look for moments that cannot be planned: unexpected encounters, visual coincidences, gestures, contrasts and fleeting situations in which ordinary reality briefly seems to slip out of place.

I don't stage my scenes. I wait for photographs to happen — somewhere between people, places and chance.

My work has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications and platforms including Vogue PhotoVogue, Street Photography Magazine, Lens Magazine, PHOTO and F-STOP Magazine.
